How do you know when it’s time to leave your church? It’s a difficult question, and there is no easy answer. There are many factors to consider, and ultimately, it is a personal decision.

Many people find themselves in a position where they are no longer attending church. Some have never actually gone to church, some have left for good reasons and others not so much. Like Pat  Robertson said, “There are a thousand reasons to leave the church, and only one reason to stay – Jesus Christ.” Whether you’ve been attending church your whole life or are just now considering it, here are some things to think about before making a decision.

Things to Consider when Deciding to Leave Your Church

What is your motivation for leaving?

Is it because you’re angry with God? Is it because you don’t agree with something the church is teaching? Is it because you’re going through a difficult time in your life and feel like the church isn’t supporting you? Whatever the reason, be honest with yourself about why you’re considering leaving.

What does the Bible say about leaving the church?

There are a few passages in the Bible that talk about leaving the church. In 1 Corinthians 6:1-8, Paul says that Christians should not take other Christians to court, but should instead work things out within the church. He says that it is better to suffer wrong than to cause division within the body of Christ. In Matthew 18:15-17, Jesus gives instructions on how to deal with a fellow believer who has sinned against you. He says to first go and speak to the person privately, and if they don’t listen, then take one or two others with you. If they still don’t listen, then bring it before the church. And finally, if they don’t listen to the church, then treat them as a Gentile or a tax collector. These verses show that Jesus values unity within the body of Christ and wants us to work out our differences.

What are your other options?

Before you make a decision, it’s important to consider all of your options. If you’re thinking about leaving your church, what are you going to do instead? There are other churches you could try, or you could stop attending altogether. You could also start your own church. But whatever you do, make sure you are doing it for the right reasons.

Pray about it

This is probably the most important thing to do. Pray and ask God for wisdom in making your decision. He will guide you and give you the strength to do what is best.

Making the decision to leave your church is not an easy one. But if you take the time to consider all of the factors and pray about it, you will be able to make the best decision for your life.

Only you can decide if it’s time to leave your church. There is no easy answer, but there are some things to think about before making a decision. Praying and asking God for wisdom is the most important thing you can do. He will guide you and give you the strength to do what is best.
